DANTE AND EUROPE IN THE NINETEENTH CENTURY

The series of lectures Dante and Europe in the nineteenth century, organized by the Center for Italian Studies – Center of Italian Studies (CSI-CIS) of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan in collaboration with the Biblioteca Ambrosiana, investigates the fortune of the Poet among leading figures of nineteenth-century European culture.

The lectures deal with different aspects, such as the critical reconstruction of the author’s texts, with specific investigations on the editing methods, or the spread of Dante’s work in translation.
Other lectures instead, present a broader approach.
Launched in autumn 2018, the meetings will continue in 2019 and 2020 with four appointments each year, two in the spring and two in the fall; the lectures presented will then be published into a volume.
