Probably made in Germany, this is a very special type of astrolabe, which made it possible to determine the position of the planets at any time during the year. In actual fact, this was not so much an astronomical instrument as an astrological one, for it was used to compile horoscopes based on the position of the planets in relation to the zodiac.
