THE FRESCOES OF THE CRYPT OF SAN SEPOLCRO #1

Let’s carry on, going into the underground church of San Sepolcro; we come to one of the frescoed walls. The restoration has made visible further wealth in the wealth. Here, we are facing two fourteenth-century frescoes. First of all, this one with the three figures that probably represent: Mary Magdalene, covered by long hair, St. John the Baptist, in the center, who indicates with the index finger the Lamb of God and, on the right, a crowned figure, probably St. Helena, the one who rediscovered the true cross of Christ. Next to this fresco, a beautiful crucifixion with a suffering Christ and the figures of Mary and John at the foot of the cross. This is one of the most traditional depictions but in this case really also capable of generating deep impressions and emotions.
