PINACOTECA AMBROSIANA AND THE DUOMO TOGETHER FOR MILAN

The Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana and the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano present a collaboration agreement that marks the beginning of a common path aimed at creating a network, for the enhancement of the heritage of faith and art that the two institutions have guarded for centuries.

A collaboration that looks far away, in the name of the cultural and tourist promotion of the city, with common strategies and objectives that, precisely in the sign of Ambrosian tradition, is aimed both at Milanese citizens, and at the millions of visitors who come to Milan every year.

A unique opportunity to discover the treasures of the Duomo of Milan and the masterpieces of the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, including works by Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Caravaggio, Botticelli and many other famous artists.

A COMBO TICKET TO EXPLORE THE DUOMO, THE DUOMO MUSEUM AND THE PINACOTECA AMBROSIANA 

From 1 November, will be on sale on the official website www.duomomilano.it a type of combined ticket (the first of this type for both institutions) that will allow you to visit the Duomo, the Duomo Museum and the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana at a competitive price

€ 20,00 full | € 12,00 reduced 6-18 years | up to 5 years admission is free.

The ticket is valid for 72 hours for a single access to individual places and is available every day except Wednesday (closing day of the Cathedral Museum and the Ambrosiana).

VISIT “FEDERICO BORROMEO BETWEEN CATHEDRAL AND AMBROSIANA ACADEMY”

With this itinerary, it will be possible to retrace the decades between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries of the episcopates of Charles and Federico Borromeo, marked by Spanish domination but also by a significant renewal of the Cathedral, with the work of Pellegrino Tibaldi, and the important cultural enterprises desired by the two great Archbishops. In the Duomo, it will be possible to admire the imposing paintings depicting the Life and Miracles of San Carlo, commissioned by Cardinal Federico and visit the altar area.

We will then move to the Biblioteca Ambrosiana, founded by Cardinal Federico Borromeo on 7 September 1607 and flanked by the Pinacoteca in 1618 and the Academy of Drawing in 1620, where many artists who later worked in the Duomo in the following decades were trained: It will also be possible to admire the masterpieces kept here, as well as the drawings of the Codex Atlanticus by Leonardo da Vinci.

The tour is available for two types of public:

– PRIVATE GROUPS OF 2 TO 6 PEOPLE
From 3 November, every day except Wednesday, for private groups of 2 to 6 people, at a chosen time, it will be possible to book the guided tour “Federico Borromeo between the Duomo and the Ambrosian Academy” from the guided tour and incentive area of the website www.duomomilano.it.
COST: €71.00 each.
DURATION: 120 minutes for the Duomo + Ambrosiana, accompanied by a professional guide

– GROUPS UP TO 25 PARTICIPANTS
Bookable from the “Guided and Incentive Tours” section of the website www.duomomilano.it, on certain dates with a fixed departure time for groups of up to 25 participants
COST: € 34.00 full price, from 19 years of age | € 24.00 reduced from 12 to 18 years | €21.00 reduced from 6 to 11 years. The visit is free for children up to 5 years old.
DURATION: 120 minutes for the Duomo + Ambrosiana, accompanied by a professional guide

The vision of the codes of the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana and the visit to the Archive of the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo will be conducted directly by experts of the two institutions, for a unique and unforgettable experience among the most precious paper treasures kept there.
