The Italy Pavilion’s strategic promotion of Italian culture and economy at Expo 2025 Osaka continues well beyond the Expo’s official closing.
Thanks to the Asahi Group’s sponsorship, some of the key works from the Italy Pavilion’s visitor experience will be on display at the Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts until January 12, 2026.
The exhibition, entitled “Atlante Farnese and the Treasures of the Italy Pavilion from Expo 2025 Osaka,” will allow visitors to continue admiring the Farnese Atlas, two new sheets from Leonardo da Vinci’s Codex Atlanticus, and Perugino’s masterpiece, “The Banner of Justice,” in Japan.
The exhibition, organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Italian Embassy in Tokyo, the Italian Consulate in Japan, and the Italian Cultural Institute in Osaka, symbolically opens the celebrations for the 160th anniversary of Italy-Japan relations, scheduled for 2026.
“When the opportunity arose to exhibit two sheets of Leonardo da Vinci’s Codex Atlanticus at the Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts, the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana immediately embraced the opportunity. The theme of art and science is shared by both the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka and the great Florentine artist’s hydraulic drawings, which will be on display to the general public in Japan and Asia until January 12,” commented Monsignor Rocca, Director of the Pinacoteca Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana.
